I'm a mum of two and an enterprise security architect. For over a decade I've protected multinational companies from the kinds of threats most people never hear about, and then I'd come home and realise my own kids had no idea what to look for.

I started volunteering at schools, teaching cybersecurity and coding, and the same thing happened in every classroom. Kids were quick, curious, and completely unequipped. Not because they weren't paying attention, but because nobody had given them the words.

That's the gap I kept running into. Most of us, adults included, don't learn the difference between safe and unsafe online until something has already gone wrong. And children face an added problem: when something feels off, they often can't name it. No vocabulary, no framework, no way to raise their hand. So they absorb whatever they see and treat it as normal.

A lecture doesn't fix that. Neither does a poster.

So I built the journal I wished existed. Somewhere kids write down what they think, draw what they notice, and work through bite-sized missions, learning how passwords, scams, privacy and online kindness actually work while they do it. They're not being taught at. They're recording their own thinking.

The part I didn't expect was what it does for parents. When your child hands you their journal, you're not opening a difficult conversation from nothing. You're responding to something they've already told you. The hardest part of talking to kids about online safety is starting, and the journal starts it for you.

What began as volunteering now helps families across Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, India and the United States raise curious, confident, cyber-smart kids, one page at a time.
